Psychological Assessment and Therapy After a Motor Vehicle Accident

Car accidents can affect more than your body. We provide therapy and assessment services to help you process emotional distress, manage cognitive changes, and support your recovery—whether symptoms are new or resurfacing.

The Psychological Impact of Motor Vehicle Accidents

Not all injuries after a car accident are visible. Many individuals experience emotional or psychological effects in the days, weeks, or even months following a collision—sometimes without realizing the connection.

Some of the most common symptoms include:

$

Increased anxiety, irritability, or mood changes

$
Trouble with focus, memory, or attention
$
Sleep difficulties or recurring nightmares
$
Emotional detachment or fear of driving
Even a minor accident can trigger a lasting emotional response. For others, a collision may intensify symptoms they were already managing. Psychological assessment and therapy can help identify what’s going on and offer a structured path toward recovery.

Did You Know? Coverage and Access Through Alberta’s MVA Benefits

If you were involved in a car accident within the past two years, you may be eligible for coverage of psychological services through Section B insurance benefits and/or your Extended Health Care plan.

Under Alberta’s Bill 41 (Enhancing Driver Affordability and Care Act), individuals with MVA-related injuries or trauma can access psychological care with up to $1,000 in benefits. These benefits are available within 90 days of the accident, so timely access is important.

If you reach out after the 90-day period, we can still support you. Our team can provide your insurer with clinical documentation that outlines your symptoms and justifies the need for continued therapy or additional coverage.
