Practice Note 7 Interventions A Practice Note 7 Intervention usually applies in cases when the Court needs to make decisions concerning children, and parents are in a conflict. It can also be used in cases where the Court simply requires additional support of an expert. There are two types of PN7 Interventions: Evaluative Interventions that provide information to the Court to assist in decision-making and Therapeutic Interventions that work toward resolution of disputes, manage conflict and make positive changes in the existing family dynamic. Intervention is being conducted by Parenting Expert, who is usually a registered psychologist or registered clinical social worker with a combination of education, training, experience and continuing learning such that the Parenting Expert qualifies as an expert witness. The Parenting Expert must adhere to the ethical codes and standards of practice for their profession.
