Elena Zivkovic, Intern

Elena (she/her/hers) is a Master of Counselling student at City University who has completed her coursework and is currently a practicum student. She is dedicated to working with a diverse population of individuals and will provide therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and adults until the end of April 2024. Elena’s educational background is complemented by her meaningful volunteer experience on the distress line, where she engaged in crisis intervention and promoted mental health advocacy. She is a passionate advocate for mental health, actively working to raise awareness and promote affordable and accessible therapy services. Elena practices a person-centered integrative approach that aims to promote self-kindness while helping individuals surmount obstacles in life. She strongly values the notion of collaboration and fostering a positive therapeutic relationship grounded in trust. Through this relationship, she strives to create a secure and supportive environment for her clients. Elena values learning about clients’ intersecting identities and cultures to gain a better understanding of their experiences and to validate and honor their identity in their therapeutic journey. Elena is working under the supervision of Registered Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, Ms. Hilda Huj.

