Psycho-Legal Assessment A Forensic Assessment is typically conducted either at the request of an attorney or by court order. The purpose of a forensic assessment is to determine the facts at issue in a legal matter such as a lawsuit or a criminal case. It differs from other types of assessment in several ways, including its purpose, the psychologist's role/relationship with the client, the limits of confidentiality, the voluntariness of the evaluation and the type of testimony that ensues.
