Shea holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Psychology with a concentration in Forensic Psychology and has completed her coursework for the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She has joined our practice as a practicum student. Shea has dedicated herself to supporting individuals including adults, children over the age of ten, and families. Shea has extensive experience with frontline mental health work within various populations allowing her to understand the nuances of offering support in different capacities. Shea also has direct experience working with sentenced individuals and those facing challenges with substance use. She will be providing assessments and therapeutic services until April 2025. As a budding psychologist, Shea uses an eclectic approach but is heavily influenced by Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) therapies. Shea also aspires to expand her knowledge base into Eye movement Desensitization and Reprogramming (EMDR) as well as The Berlin Dissexuality Therapy (BEDIT) in the future. Person-centered therapy forms the foundation of her approach, focusing on acceptance and genuine connection. As a therapist, she is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive space for all individuals, including members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Shea stands as an ally in support of diversity, equality, and respect for all. Shea is working under the supervision of the Registered Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, Ms. Hilda Huj.
