Hilda Huj, MA

Hilda   Huj   is   a   Registered   Provisional   Psychologist   in   the   province   of   Alberta.   She   completed   a   Bachelor   of   Arts and   Master   of Arts   degree   in   Psychology   in   Osijek,   Croatia,   and   subsequently   equated   her   academic   credentials   to Canadian standards. Hilda   is   dedicated   to   contributing   to   different   communities   through   her   volunteer   efforts   and   professional   mental health   services.   Currently,   she   volunteers   with   the   Edmonton   Police   Services   as   a   Victim   Support   Worker   and   also helps   to   promote   Psychology   by   volunteering   for   the   Psychologists’ Association   of Alberta.   She   is   very   passionate about      Psychology   and   writes   monthly   articles   for   Theravive.com,   where   she   discusses   a   variety   of   contemporary topics. In   her   work,   Hilda   uses   an   integrative   approach,    tailored   to   suit   the   individual's   values,   needs,   experiences,   and circumstances.   She   finds   this   kind   of   approach   important   because   it   involves   a   non-judgemental,   interpersonal, supportive and cooperative relationship with a client, as well as elements of specific therapies. Hilda   believes   that   every   individual   is   on   a   complex   journey   and   often   has   to   navigate   new   environments   with limited   guidance   and   help.   Therefore,   she   developed    a   special   interest   in   providing   help   to    children,   youth,   and adults facing significant transitions and phases in their lives (e.g., school, college, autonomous living, etc.). Hilda also provides services in Croatian , Serbian , Bosnian , and Montenegrin .
